Tragic Accident Claims Anthony Joshua’s Dear Friend

Anthony Joshua’s dear friend who tragically lost his life in a fatal accident chose to accompany the heavyweight boxer on the journey so that Joshua wouldn’t be alone.

The devastating incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the deaths of Joshua’s close associates, Kevin Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both aged 36.

Ghami’s uncle, Shahryar Rumi, flew from the United States to London upon hearing the heartbreaking news to support his family during this difficult time.

Rumi fondly remembered his nephew as a compassionate and generous individual who had been Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach for more than ten years. He shared that Ghami traveled to Nigeria for the holidays out of care for Joshua, not wanting him to be by himself.

Tragically, Ghami and Ayodele lost their lives instantly when the SUV they were traveling in collided with a stationary truck on Monday.

Speaking to The Times, Rumi described Sina as an exceptional person, noting his kindness, generosity, and brotherly nature. He emphasized Sina’s positive impact on many people through his acts of kindness.

Ghami played a pivotal role in Joshua’s team for over a decade and operated the Evolve Gyms in London. Following his untimely death, floral tributes and candles were placed outside the gyms as a mark of respect, leading to the temporary closure of the facilities for mourning.

A fundraising initiative has been launched to establish a mosque and clean water project in memory of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele, raising over £190,000 in contributions.

Joshua, who sustained minor injuries in the accident, is currently receiving medical care in a private hospital in Lagos. His mother, Yeta Odusanya, has been by his side throughout his recovery process.

Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reached out to Joshua and his mother to offer condolences after the tragic loss of Joshua’s close friends.
