After a thorough 24-hour search, authorities in Sudbury have located the body of a 26-year-old man in Crowley Lake following a tragic incident where his canoe overturned. The Greater Sudbury Police Service revealed that emergency responders, including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers, were called to the lake on Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. The man was discovered around 3 p.m. the following day.
In consideration of the family’s privacy, law enforcement has chosen not to disclose the individual’s identity. Reports indicated that a canoe carrying three individuals capsized on the lake, with two individuals safely rescued by nearby kayakers. Search efforts were conducted on foot by officers aided by a K-9 unit and aerial support from a drone and an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter.
