“UK Braces for Snow as Blizzards Set to Hit”

Share

Britons are bracing for cold weather as blizzards are expected to hit the country in the coming days. While the UK missed out on a White Christmas, snowfall may occur shortly after the festive season. Weather maps from WX Charts indicate the likelihood of snow in various regions, with one area possibly receiving up to 10 inches of snow.

Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and northern England are projected to be the most affected regions by the upcoming snowfall, potentially arriving on January 8. Additionally, the Midlands and southern England could also see snow, extending as far south as Devon, Cornwall, and Greater London.

Maps suggest that Ross and Cromarty, along with Invernessshire, could face the heaviest snowfall, with up to 10.2 inches predicted in a single day. Aberdeenshire may also experience significant snow accumulation. Other areas, such as Norwich, might see around 3.9 inches of snowfall.

Although the WX Charts forecasts paint a snowy picture, the Met Office has issued a more cautious outlook for the second week of the new year. The long-range forecast predicts the possibility of rainfall, with changing conditions expected as the new year approaches. The forecast mentions the likelihood of rain, showers, and wintry hazards due to cold air near the UK.

While a White Christmas did not materialize, parts of the UK experienced a yellow weather warning. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued a cold health alert for south-west England, while the Met Office issued a wind warning for the same area and much of Wales.
