Virgin Media is set to introduce a significant enhancement to its TV platform, aimed at simplifying content discovery for users. The company announced the upcoming changes in a blog post, highlighting the focus on a more visually engaging search function.
Currently, when users search for content on Virgin, they are presented with a standard list view. However, with the forthcoming update, the search results will feature vivid images instead of text.
Virgin confirmed the improvements, stating, “We’re rolling out some helpful improvements to how you search on our Stream box and Virgin TV 360.” The new search function will eliminate text lists in favor of image results, enhancing the speed and ease of finding desired content.
Users will now see visual tiles for relevant search results, whether they input search queries manually or utilize the voice search feature. The update will automatically reach devices such as the 360 and Stream boxes.
Virgin reassured users that no additional steps are required to receive the update on their devices. The company emphasized the seamless nature of the update, indicating that it will be deployed remotely.
This upgrade is expected to streamline content discovery for users, reducing the time spent browsing through channels. Virgin’s search function allows users to search for specific shows, movies, genres, or actors, simply by using the remote’s search button or voice command feature.
To maximize the search experience, users can try various search queries using the remote. For example, searching for shows related to “John Wick,” “feel-good movies,” “reality TV,” or “live sports tonight” can be easily done by typing or speaking the keywords.
