Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
The issue of receiving unwanted phone calls is a common headache for smartphone users, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer faces around eight such calls monthly. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
In response to this growing problem, Vodafone has unveiled a new service called Scam Call Protection. This innovative feature utilizes AI technology to detect and highlight potentially deceitful, spam, scam, and bothersome calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, the system scrutinizes all incoming calls. If any suspicious activity is detected, customers will receive a clear on-screen notification identifying the call as potentially fraudulent.
Rob Winterschladen, Vodafone’s Consumer Director, emphasized the increasing difficulty in identifying scam calls and the importance of being vigilant. He stated, “Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile provides customers with an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring calls in the background, flagging both confirmed and suspected scam calls. This new feature underscores our commitment to offering comprehensive digital security, empowering individuals to feel more secure, informed, and in control of their online activities.”
The Scam Call Protection service is an addition to Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring for identity theft protection, and real-time virus and malware defenses.
Interested individuals can test the service free of charge for three months, after which it is available for a monthly fee of £2.
