A man aged 34 has been brought before a court for the alleged murder of a 65-year-old woman on the night of New Year’s Eve.
Law enforcement officers responded to a residence in Maple Gardens, Yateley, Hampshire, at 9:40 a.m. on December 31 following a report of the discovery of Janet Bowen deceased at the location.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary mentioned, “Her family has been notified and is receiving assistance from authorities.”
Michael Bowen, residing in Maple Gardens, Yateley, appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, facing charges related to the woman’s murder.
He has been detained in custody pending a scheduled appearance at Winchester Crown Court in the near future.
The statement released by the police indicated, “On December 31 at 9:40 a.m., authorities were alerted to the discovery of Janet Bowen, aged 65, deceased at a property in Maple Gardens, Yateley.
“Her family has been informed and is under support by officials. The Major Crime Team has formally accused Michael Bowen, 34, of Maple Gardens, Yateley, with the crime of murder.
“He has been placed in custody and is set to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court the following day.”
