A devastated Anthony Joshua is reportedly experiencing widespread pain following a serious car accident that resulted in the tragic deaths of two of his close friends in Nigeria, as per information from The Sun. Joshua is currently receiving medical treatment at a high-end hospital in Lagos and is expected to stay until the New Year after surviving the crash with injuries.

Reports indicate that the former heavyweight champion, though initially stable, has expressed feeling discomfort throughout his body, stating, “I feel pain all over my body,” amidst concerns that his injuries could have implications for his boxing career.

The 36-year-old was involved in a collision between a Lexus Jeep he was traveling in and a stationary truck on a busy highway, with authorities suspecting that the accident was caused by a tire blowout due to excessive speed.

Although Joshua suffered minor injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, unfortunately, two other occupants in the vehicle lost their lives, identified as Kevin Ayodele and Sina Ghami, who were integral members of Joshua’s team serving as his personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach, respectively.

Concerns have been raised that the emotional toll and mental anguish from the tragedy might jeopardize potential fights for Joshua in the coming year, including a highly anticipated bout with his rival Tyson Fury.

Following the accident, Nigeria’s President confirmed that Joshua’s mother had arrived at the hospital to be by her son’s side, with prominent figures like Bola Ahmed Tinubu offering condolences and support to Joshua and his family during this difficult time.

Eddie Hearn, chairman of Joshua’s promotional company Matchroom, expressed his condolences for the loss of Ghami and Ayodele, highlighting their significant contributions to Joshua’s career and extending heartfelt prayers for all affected by the tragedy.

Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, shared his shock at the accident and his family’s struggle to locate Anthony Joshua after the incident, emphasizing the community’s grief and the challenges in accessing information due to Joshua’s prominence.

Despite the turmoil, family members remain hopeful for Joshua’s recovery and are eager to see him, respecting the need for his safety and privacy in light of his global status.
