“Freevee App Closing, Content Moving to Prime Video”

Share

Users of Amazon’s Fire TV Stick are set to lose access to the Freevee app, with the service scheduled to cease operations at the end of August. This means that starting from September 1, 2025, viewers who enjoy content on this platform will no longer be able to do so. The closure will affect not only Fire TV Sticks but also users on iOS and Android devices.

Freevee, Amazon’s ad-supported application offering free streams of movies, TV shows, and live TV broadcasts, will be transitioning its content to Amazon’s Prime Video app. Viewers will need to download Prime Video and sign in with their Amazon account to continue watching for free. While some content will remain free, there will also be shows and movies that require a Prime subscription or a one-time fee. This move is seen as a strategy to encourage Freevee users to subscribe to Prime Video.

A notification within the Freevee app informs customers that Prime Video will become the new exclusive platform for Freevee TV shows, movies, and live TV. The Freevee app will remain accessible until August 2025, after which users will be directed to use the Prime Video app for their viewing needs.

For those who are already Prime Video subscribers, consolidating all Amazon content into one app may offer a more convenient browsing experience compared to accessing content through multiple platforms.
