Cat’s 100-Mile Van Ride: Family’s Furry Surprise

A family was astonished to find their cat had traveled over 100 miles on the roof of their van. Margaret Denardo, 43, along with her husband Tony, 49, daughter Sophia, and three friends of Sophia, were driving from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire on September 26 for a marathon.

Initially assuming their eight-year-old cat, Ray Ray, was safe at home, the family was surprised to discover him atop the van’s luggage carrier after a two-hour drive. Margaret, a writer from Kittanning, Pennsylvania, was shocked and worried but decided to bring Ray Ray along to New Hampshire and later to New York City for a holiday.

Ray Ray, who was found as a kitten under their van eight years ago, has always been an indoor-outdoor cat, comfortable with independence. Margaret believes his adventurous nature led him to climb onto the van’s roof.

The family allowed Ray Ray to accompany them for the rest of their journey, stopping at a pet shop to gather supplies for their unexpected travel companion. Margaret expressed her surprise at finding him perched on top of the van and shared their experience of getting back on the road with their feline passenger.
