Major alterations to Universal Credit are on the horizon for the upcoming year, set to have a significant impact on millions of individuals receiving benefits.
Universal Credit is currently utilized by more than eight million residents in the UK and is administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
The modifications include an increase in the standard allowance, which constitutes the fundamental amount received in Universal Credit before any supplementary payments or deductions are applied.
Nevertheless, there are also substantial reductions on the horizon for the health-related component for new claimants of Universal Credit.

The majority of existing legacy benefits are in the process of being substituted by Universal Credit, with the final transition expected to be completed by the conclusion of March 2026.
