Tragedy struck in a village in Rhondda Cynon Taf as a fatal house fire claimed a life. Emergency responders swiftly reacted to a fire incident in Glenboi near Mountain Ash just before 2 am on New Year’s Eve.

Amidst the blaze, firefighters battled to extinguish the flames while police secured the area and evacuated residents from nearby homes in the early hours. Unfortunately, a casualty was found inside the property, confirmed by South Wales Police on Wednesday morning.

The fire service has labeled the situation as “ongoing,” with Aberdare Road set to remain closed for an extended period, as emergency teams continue their operations at the scene.

A collaborative investigation into the fire’s cause is now underway, led by South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, with support from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, as reported by Wales Online.

To facilitate investigations, a cordon has been established around the site, pending clearance for entry once the property is deemed safe.

An initial call was received by the fire service shortly before 1:40 am, alerting them to a significant house fire upon arrival.

The property suffered extensive damage, including partial collapses in certain sections. A police spokesperson detailed the early morning response to the incident, highlighting the joint efforts of the firefighters and police in managing the situation.

The closure of the road in Glenboi will persist as investigations progress. The authorities expressed condolences to the affected family and community during this challenging period.

An official from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service provided insights into the emergency response, emphasizing the substantial damage sustained by the property and the ongoing presence of firefighting resources at the scene.
