This tragic event follows the loss of a mother and her two young children in a house fire that engulfed their residence in Gloucestershire on Boxing Day. Despite her husband’s courageous attempts to rescue his family, police confirmed the devastating outcome.
Fionnghuala Shearman, also known as Nu, along with her daughter Eve, seven, and son Ohner, four, tragically perished as flames swept through their home on Brimscombe Hill, near Stroud. Her husband, Tom, a dedicated Gloucestershire police officer, remains hospitalized after his heroic efforts to save his loved ones.
Emergency services were summoned to the property around 3 am, where Mr. Shearman’s valiant rescue attempts were thwarted by the ferocity of the fire.
In a separate incident, a house fire in the village of Hamstreet in Ashford claimed the life of a teenage girl, while another child and an adult were hospitalized, as confirmed by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
“All remaining hotspots at the scene of a house fire in White Admiral Way, Hamstreet, Ashford, have been extinguished by firefighters,” stated KFRS in a Monday update. “KFRS’s technical rescue unit is on-site, along with two fire engines, working to ensure the property’s structural stability.”
