The individuals behind the nightclub where a tragic fire claimed the lives of 47 individuals and left 115 others injured have connections to the United Kingdom. Jacques Moretti and Jessica, prominent figures in the hospitality sector in Switzerland, established Le Constellation bar in the upscale ski resort of Crans-Montana in December 2015. The bar, known for its elegant ambiance and festive setting, was reduced to ashes in a devastating New Year’s Day blaze that claimed numerous lives.
Jessica Moretti, whose background includes education at the University of Glamorgan and completion of programs at the International University of Monaco and Montpelier Business School in France, resides with her husband on the French island of Corsica. The couple, believed to have a child, first visited Crans-Montana in 2011 and later launched their bar in 2015, catering to patrons aged 16 and above.
Reports suggest that the fire, allegedly ignited by sparklers placed in champagne bottles, led to chaos inside the club. While Jessica reportedly sustained burns during the incident, her husband was reportedly away at another business location. The Morettis, known for their hard work and success, have expanded their restaurant ventures in Switzerland since opening Le Constellation.
However, questions now loom over the tragic fire at Le Constellation, housed in a previously abandoned structure, as families search desperately for their missing loved ones. Eyewitnesses recount harrowing experiences, with one individual describing the narrow staircase causing a frantic rush to escape. Police commander Frédéric Gisler confirmed the fire’s origin in the bar’s basement, highlighting the chaotic evacuation via a single staircase. Investigations into the incident are ongoing as the community grapples with the aftermath of the devastating event.
