Former “Strictly Come Dancing” contestant Dani Dyer has given an update on her injury after withdrawing from this year’s competition due to a fractured ankle sustained during rehearsals for the opening live show with dance partner Nikita Kuzmin.
Following medical advice, Dani had to exit the competition, and Love Island star Amber Davies replaced her. Dani explained that she fractured her ankle after a fall during rehearsals and was forbidden by doctors to dance the quickstep.
In a recent interview with Heat Magazine, Dani shared a positive update on her recovery progress, mentioning ongoing physiotherapy sessions and expressing gratitude to Nikita and Amber for their support during her absence. When asked about a potential return to the show in 2026, Dani left the decision to the show’s producers.
Amber stepped in with only 48 hours’ notice and impressed the judges with her performances, securing a spot in the final alongside George Clarke and Karen Carney. Ultimately, Karen and her partner Carlos Gu emerged as the winners of the Glitterball trophy.
After the final, Amber took to Instagram to express her joy and gratitude for the support she received throughout the competition. She thanked the judges for their belief in her and praised hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman for their contributions to the show.
Regarding potential successors for the show, BBC Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips stated that the production team is currently focused on delivering the current season and will only consider new talent after the New Year to ensure a successful upcoming series.
