“Man Attacked by American Bulldog Faces Anxiety”

Share

A man expressed shock at his altered appearance following an incident where an American bulldog unexpectedly attacked him on the face. Robert Gaskell, a worker, was in Demi Fitzpatrick’s kitchen when her dog Capone entered and bit him on the cheek while she was occupied in her bedroom.

Despite being known as a typically friendly canine, authorities have decreed Capone’s destruction. The victim now grapples with heightened anxiety while visiting clients’ residences due to the assault.

Law enforcement responded to a call in Liverpool’s Kirkby area on May 21 this year after reports of a dog bite incident. Fitzpatrick admitted to owning a dog that caused injury while being out of control. She was visibly emotional during the court proceedings and was fined £120, ordered to pay £300 in compensation, £85 in court costs, and a £48 victim surcharge.

Magistrates issued a destruction order for Capone, subject to appeal at the crown court. Panel chairman Lee McGaw emphasized the need to assess the dog’s potential danger to public safety, considering its temperament and past behavior, as well as Fitzpatrick’s suitability as a responsible owner.

Acknowledging the expert’s opinion that Capone must be properly restrained in the presence of visitors, the court concluded that Fitzpatrick was unfit to manage the dog. Consequently, a destruction order was issued.
