Freeview Update Alert: Retune Now for Channel Changes

Share

Freeview users are advised to promptly review their settings and retune their devices as an update has been rolled out by the popular UK TV platform. The update brings several changes to the channel lineup and TV guide, with Freeview stating that certain broadcasters are making adjustments this week. To ensure that channels and the TV guide remain current, a retune is necessary.

Four notable changes have been introduced. Firstly, three existing channels have been rebranded with new names, which will now be visible in the TV guide. That’s TV 3 (Channel 71) has been rebranded as That’s 20th Century, featuring music from past decades and iconic shows like Yes, Minister, In Sickness and in Health, and The Saint. That’s TV 3 MCR (Channel 86) is now known as That’s 20th Century MCR, and That’s Classics MCR (Channel 93) has been simplified to That’s Classics.

In addition to the rebranding, a new channel, That’s Entertainment, has been launched on Channel 75. Although program listings are not widely available yet, further details are expected to be announced soon. Freeview explains that such updates are part of the ongoing changes as broadcasters frequently adjust their offerings to ensure diverse and up-to-date content.

Users with Freeview should observe these changes reflected on the TV planner; if not, a retune may be required by following these steps:

1. Press the menu button on your remote.
2. Navigate to settings, installation, or a similar option.
3. Enter your PIN if prompted (commonly 1234 or 0000).
4. Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” or “full retune.”
5. Confirm the deletion of existing channels.
6. The device will automatically search for and store the updated channels.

While Freeview updates occur regularly, this recent update is considered significant, emphasizing the importance of retuning sooner rather than later.
