Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” has decided to bring the show to a close after over a decade of entertaining viewers with interviews and moments shared over fried chicken. Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her audience for joining her on this journey, stating that while she never anticipated ending “Chicken Shop Date,” she feels it’s time to embark on a new adventure.
Starting the show 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in Britain’s underground rap scene, Dimoldenberg expanded her reach to chat with various celebrities, including Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. “Chicken Shop Date” features Dimoldenberg taking celebrities on a casual date at a fried chicken shop in London, where she asks a mix of flirty, funny, and occasionally awkward questions, resulting in spontaneous and engaging conversations.
The show’s format deviates from traditional talk shows, fostering a first-date-like atmosphere that leads to genuine interactions. Dimoldenberg’s encounters with celebrities like Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds, who she corrected on his wife Blake Lively’s character name from “Gossip Girl,” have provided humorous and memorable moments. Notable interviews also include Shania Twain, who disclosed never meeting Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
Dimoldenberg’s success on YouTube opened doors to other opportunities, such as covering the Oscars red carpet and interviewing talents like Hudson Williams. While her future plans post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, Dimoldenberg is set to develop a young adult drama series for the BBC. Prior to concluding the show, she has promised “a few final dates” for her dedicated viewers.
