The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a score of 85-38 in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico on Wednesday. Yvonne Ejim contributed 19 points for Canada, while Syla Swords added 15 points to the scoreboard.
Canada took a commanding 23-4 lead early in the game at Arena Astros and maintained a strong 46-11 advantage at halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will run until Sunday.
In their previous match, Canada secured a 72-57 victory against Senegal in the tournament opener. The team is set to face host country Mexico in the upcoming game on Thursday. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
