Julia Stiles made a notable appearance on the popular show, “Dancing with the Stars,” prompting speculation about a potential tribute to her iconic role in “Save The Last Dance.” Indeed, in Week 5 of the competition, Stiles revisited her past as her former co-star from the 2001 film joined her for a special performance.

During the live show themed around Super Bowl night, Stiles and her partner, Ezra Sosa, delivered a captivating hip-hop ballet routine set to Jennifer Lopez’s “Jenny from the Block.” The dance routine paid homage to “Save The Last Dance,” where Stiles portrayed Sara Johnson, a ballet dancer with aspirations to attend Juilliard who falls in love with a hip-hop dancer, Derek Reynolds, played by Sean Patrick Thomas.

In a standout moment of the performance, Sosa stepped aside, allowing Stiles to showcase the iconic choreography from the film. The camera captured Thomas, also from the original movie, recreating a classic scene, nodding in approval alongside Sosa.

Following the performance, Stiles expressed her satisfaction, sharing with co-host Julianne Hough that she had been waiting 25 years for this opportunity. The audience erupted in cheers, clearly appreciating the nostalgic tribute.

The routine resonated well with the judges, earning Stiles and Sosa their highest scores of the season with a mix of 8s and 9s, ensuring their safety from elimination. Social media buzzed with reactions from fans and celebrities, including praise from Jennifer Lopez herself.

While the performance was widely celebrated, some viewers raised concerns about perceived favoritism towards Stiles and Sosa compared to other contestants who faced more stringent critiques for their dance styles. Despite mixed reactions, Stiles’ recreation of her “Save The Last Dance” moments left a lasting impression on fans and the audience alike.
