The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will honor Kyle Lowry by retiring his jersey number, No. 7, during a ceremony after their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10th. Lowry will be recognized as the second player in Raptors history to receive this tribute, following Vince Carter.

Lowry, who retired at the age of 40 in July after a distinguished 20-year NBA career, sealed his legacy by signing a symbolic one-day contract with Toronto. Expressing his anticipation for the event, he stated, “I have always considered Toronto my home and vowed to retire as a Raptor. Seeing my No. 7 raised in the arena means the world to me.”

The veteran guard reflected on the special bond he formed with his teammates, the organization, the city, and the fans, including those across Canada. Their collective efforts culminated in an NBA championship victory in 2019, a milestone that holds great significance for Lowry.

Having spent nine seasons with the Raptors, Lowry played a pivotal role in the franchise’s success, holding records for most assists, steals, and three-pointers. His six All-Star appearances further solidify his status as a key figure in the team’s history.

To commemorate this occasion, a video showcasing Lowry’s return to Toronto to retire as a Raptor has been released, capturing the emotional significance of his farewell.
