A report suggests that the driver involved in the tragic car accident that injured Anthony Joshua may face charges for reckless driving. Information from the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nigeria indicates that investigations revealed the former heavyweight world champion’s vehicle was speeding excessively and involved in improper overtaking, offenses that are considered serious violations of traffic laws and can lead to criminal responsibility in cases of fatalities.

The source mentioned that the authorities are preparing the necessary paperwork for the Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division, collaborating with prosecutors to determine appropriate charges. The possibility of prosecution for causing death due to dangerous or reckless driving is being considered.

Additionally, it was confirmed by the source that Joshua suffered a leg fracture in the crash.

While official statements are pending, the incident has sparked discussions on road safety and accountability in Nigeria following the tragedy on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claimed the lives of two of Joshua’s companions.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the driver of the truck involved in the collision with Joshua’s car is missing. The Nigerian Police are searching for the driver of the soybean truck, which was allegedly parked illegally on the roadside.

The truck, with damage on the driver’s side, was cordoned off by police tape as of Wednesday.

An officer from the Nigerian police informed the Mail that the truck driver had parked illegally and was not present during the accident.

Updates indicate that Joshua is “responding to treatment” after the tragic incident on Sunday. He is expected to remain at the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos until the New Year, with his mother by his side but restricted visitation for other family members.

Reportedly, Joshua expressed feeling pain throughout his body following the crash that tragically claimed the lives of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, both aged 36.
