Anthony Joshua recently made a solemn visit to a funeral home in Lagos to pay his respects to his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, who tragically lost their lives in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Joshua, who sustained minor injuries in the accident, has since been discharged from the hospital and is back home in Nigeria for his recovery.

The British boxer, accompanied by his mother, took the opportunity to bid farewell to Ghami and Ayodele at the funeral home. Local government officials expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for their souls to rest in peace.

Joshua was involved in the accident while traveling in a black SUV that collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the loss of his two friends. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities searching for the truck driver who illegally parked on the highway’s hard shoulder at the time of the crash.

Following his discharge from the hospital, the driver of the SUV provided a statement to the police, acknowledging overspeeding as a factor in the accident. The vehicle’s front tyre burst, causing a loss of control and ultimately leading to the collision with the parked truck. Excessive speed was cited as a contributing factor.

Both the Ogun State Governor and the Lagos State Governor expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences received in the wake of the tragic incident. They also acknowledged the medical professionals and staff at Lagoon Hospital Ikoyi for their dedicated care and professionalism in treating Joshua and others injured in the accident.
