Asda has introduced a new pricing guarantee, ensuring that thousands of daily items are now priced lower than those offered with loyalty cards at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons.
More than 2,300 common products at Asda are now priced below competitors, including fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items.
In addition, during January, shoppers will earn 10% back in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all in-store fresh produce purchases.
Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, noted, “Many families are feeling financial strain after the holidays, and we aim to ease this burden by offering the best prices on frequently purchased items. Asda Price ensures great value with transparent and consistent pricing accessible to all without the need for a loyalty card.”
Following a challenging Christmas period for Asda, where its market share dropped to 11.4%, sales declined by 4.2%, marking the grocer’s 22nd consecutive month of decline according to Worldpanel data.
In contrast, Tesco and Sainsbury’s saw an increase in customers over the same 12-week period, solidifying their lead over Asda.
Recently, Tesco announced a commitment to maintaining the affordability of 3,000 branded products as part of its new Everyday Low Prices initiative.
