CBC is expanding its coverage of Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast agreement with The Curling Group. This deal, announced recently, will result in over 300 hours of combined television coverage on CBC and Sportsnet for the 2026-27 season.
One significant aspect of this agreement is the increased focus on Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will return to CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League, featuring six mixed-gender franchises with global curlers, will hold events on weekends in January and April. Games are scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition to Rock League, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for the five Grand Slam events starting in October. The coverage includes three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be on Sportsnet, while CBC will air select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive history of curling coverage, enhancing its presence in major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed excitement about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide.
The agreements with The Curling Group will give both the Grand Slam and Rock League broader national exposure. Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group, described it as a pivotal moment for the sport.
Over the next five years, Canadian viewers can look forward to more ways to follow both the Grand Slam playoff weekends and the upcoming second season of Rock League on CBC.
