“Child Dies in Tragic Kent House Fire”

A tragic incident in Kent resulted in the death of a child due to a house fire in Hamstreet, Ashford. The fire broke out at a property on White Admiral Way, prompting the dispatch of six fire engines and a height vehicle to the scene. Kent Fire and Rescue Service described the blaze as “intense,” causing extensive damage to the home. Regrettably, one child lost their life in the fire, while another was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Ann Millington, Chief Executive of KFRS, expressed condolences to the affected individuals, particularly the family of the deceased child. A welfare hub has been established at Hamstreet Village Hall to provide support to those impacted by the tragedy.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. Residents were initially advised to keep doors and windows closed for safety, but this precaution is no longer necessary. As of 5.45pm, two fire engines remained on-site, according to the fire service.

Kent Police confirmed their involvement in responding to the fire incident on White Admiral Way. They assisted in managing road closures to facilitate the firefighting efforts alongside KFRS personnel.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service detailed the response to the house fire, highlighting the efforts of the fire crews to contain the intense flames. While one child sadly perished in the fire, the situation has been contained, and the community is no longer advised to take precautionary measures. Crews are actively working to dampen down the remaining hotspots, with additional support provided by the Volunteer Response Team.
