Corus Entertainment Implements Workforce Reductions

Share

Corus Entertainment has initiated workforce reductions at its television and radio divisions. A spokesperson for the company mentioned that they have implemented a limited number of alterations in specific markets, affecting positions at Global B.C., Global National, News 640, and talk radio. These adjustments are described as challenging yet essential to ensure the sustainability of their teams while minimizing any disruptions to local news and audio services. This decision follows previous staff reductions earlier this year, primarily in Western Canada, as part of nationwide programming modifications.

Corus recently disclosed a net loss attributable to shareholders amounting to $36.5 million in the third quarter, with a 16% decline in revenue compared to the corresponding period last year. The company is currently awaiting approval for its proposed restructuring plan, which involves debt-to-equity exchanges within a new parent corporation among lenders.
