David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham with a quick lap time of 1:14.194 in the afternoon session. The upcoming qualifying rounds will take place later in the day.
Following Malukas, Alex Palou clocked the second-best time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger secured the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 on the challenging Markham downtown road course.
Due to incomplete course construction and pending safety inspections, the first day of on-track activities had to be canceled by the event organizers.
This year marks the debut of the race in Markham, having shifted from its long-standing venue at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou led the morning practice session with a top time of 1:14.9915.
