The driver involved in the tragic car accident that resulted in the deaths of Anthony Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, has made a court appearance in Nigeria. The incident occurred near Lagos on December 29, where the vehicle they were in collided with a stationary lorry. Anthony Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, sustained injuries but survived.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, appeared at Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state near Lagos. The court adjourned his case to March 13. Kayode faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s license. He has not entered a plea yet and was released on bail of approximately £2,600. Prosecutors requested more time to gather evidence for the case.
Following the accident, Anthony Joshua narrowly avoided death and has since been discharged from the hospital. He returned to the UK in early January and is undergoing rehabilitation. Joshua expressed gratitude for the support he has received during his recovery, acknowledging the loss of his friends in the tragic incident.
