“EE Launches Smart Search & Mood Matcher for Simplified Content Discovery”

Share

EE, a subsidiary of BT, is rolling out a new feature called Smart Search to simplify content discovery for UK households. This innovative update aims to streamline the process of finding something to watch by allowing users to search based on mood, themes, or plot details rather than specific titles. By simply describing what they want to watch, users can access a wide range of content from live TV, on-demand services, and streaming apps all in one place.

In addition to Smart Search, EE is introducing Mood Matcher, an AI-powered tool that further helps viewers narrow down their choices by considering their mood, preferred genres, and themes. This personalized recommendation feature is designed to assist families in selecting movies or shows, reducing the time spent on decision-making.

Luciano Oliveira, Director of Product, Home & TV at EE, emphasized the user-friendly nature of these new features, stating that they aim to simplify the content selection process for households. While Sky offers similar voice search capabilities, EE boasts being the first pay-TV service in the UK to introduce conversational, AI-powered search functionality.

Technology analyst Paolo Pescatore highlighted the significance of faster content discovery in enhancing the overall viewing experience, particularly in a content-saturated environment where audiences are inundated with choices. Smart Search and Mood Matcher are currently accessible through the EE TV app on compatible TVs, with support for EE TV Pro and EE TV Box Edge devices set to arrive soon.
