Ferrari President Urges Hamilton and Leclerc to Prioritize Driving

Share

Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, criticized Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc after a disappointing Sao Paulo Grand Prix, urging them to prioritize driving over talking. Both drivers failed to score any points in the race and retired due to separate incidents.

Meanwhile, Ferrari’s World Endurance Championship team claimed victory at the Eight Hours of Bahrain. Alessandro Pier Guidi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Calado secured the drivers’ title, with Ferrari leading by 74 points in the manufacturers’ standings.

Despite success in other competitions, Ferrari has faced challenges in F1 this season. Hamilton has struggled to adapt, with few notable achievements apart from a Sprint race win in March. Leclerc, despite few mistakes, has not secured a Grand Prix victory this year.

Elkann, present in Bahrain during the Sao Paulo race, blamed the drivers for Ferrari’s lack of competitiveness. He emphasized the team’s success in other areas but noted the drivers needed to concentrate more on driving and less on talking.

Currently, Ferrari ranks fourth in the constructors’ championship, trailing behind Mercedes and Red Bull. They are the only top-four team yet to win a Grand Prix in 2025.

Hamilton expressed frustration after a poor performance in Sao Paulo, highlighting the challenging situation. Leclerc acknowledged the team’s efforts but recognized the difficulty in securing a higher position in the championship.
