A recent enhancement has just been introduced for all households using Freeview, providing them with an expanded array of entertainment options. It has been officially announced that a new channel has debuted this week, previously exclusive to premium TV services like Sky and Virgin Media. This upgrade allows Freeview enthusiasts to now enjoy TLC, a channel showcasing reality shows, comedy, and movies.
TLC is renowned for popular reality programs such as Dr Pimple Popper and Say Yes To The Dress. Additionally, the channel is diversifying its content with a broader range of shows, including sitcoms and blockbuster films.
Following the update, Freeview users will have access to hit series like The Big Bang Theory, Mock the Week, and Young Sheldon. Movie enthusiasts can also anticipate watching blockbuster titles like Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Freeview has confirmed that TLC is now available on channel 12, although some households may need to conduct a retune to access it.
In a statement, Freeview explained, “On 13th January 2026, some broadcasters are implementing changes to their channels. You will need to retune to ensure your TV is updated and to retain access to your channels and TV Guide.”
In addition to the TLC introduction, the update will trigger a slight channel realignment. Quest will shift from Ch12 to Ch17 to accommodate TLC, and Really will move from Ch17 to Ch44.
However, not all news is positive. Freeview has announced the closure of HGTV, leading to the removal of programs like My Lottery Dream Home, Celebrity IOU, and Building Alaska from the platform. Other channels being discontinued include HGTV, God TV, and India Today.
