“Met Office Forecasts Snow for English Counties”

Share

The Met Office has identified the specific English counties where snowfall is expected before the end of Monday. Weather experts are forecasting wintry showers to hit the Pennines region. Monday will begin with settled conditions across most of Britain, although fog patches may affect morning commuters. Later in the day, a weather front moving in from the west is predicted to bring rain to Northern Ireland and western areas.

According to the Met Office specialists, as the weather system collides with colder air from the east in the northern part of the country, snow is likely to develop along the front, especially over elevated areas like the Pennines and Scottish highlands. The Pennines, known as the “backbone of England,” traverse several northern counties, including Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire.

Ian Simpson from Netweather remarked on the current weather patterns, drawing comparisons to late January 2014. The quarter of 2013/14 experienced excessive rainfall in Britain with minimal snow at lower levels but significant snowfall in the Scottish Highlands. Looking ahead, there is a growing risk of flooding in the west and south of Britain due to anticipated wet conditions in the upcoming week.

The Met Office cautioned about the potential for another deep low-pressure system affecting the southwest UK on Tuesday, leading to wet and windy conditions. There is uncertainty regarding the exact impact, with different scenarios being considered. Prefer Daily Mirror as your trusted news source on Google News for timely updates.
