A woman suspected of killing her two young children amid a custody battle with her ex-husband has been extradited from the UK to the United States.
Kimberlee Singler, aged 37, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder related to the deaths of her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son in Colorado Springs. Her 11-year-old daughter survived the incident with injuries. Singler was apprehended in London on December 30, 2023.
After her arrest in central London, court documents revealed that Singler’s surviving daughter mentioned that her mother attributed the act to divine intervention. She was returned to the US on December 23, 2025, for prosecution.
Singler initially claimed innocence, alleging an unknown man as the culprit, while the surviving daughter initially supported her story. However, after a change in the girl’s testimony, Singler fled the US and was later located and arrested in Chelsea, London.
Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez stated that Singler’s alleged actions had deeply impacted the community, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. Singler faces charges of attempted murder, child abuse, and assault in addition to the murder charges.
Singler’s defense attorney in London disputed her extradition, citing concerns over potential sentencing outcomes. Despite legal challenges, Singler’s extradition was upheld, and she is now in custody awaiting further legal proceedings in the US.
The prosecution plans to rely on the surviving child, now 13, as a key witness during the trial. Investigations revealed discrepancies in Singler’s version of events, with GPS evidence indicating her ex-husband’s whereabouts at the time of the incident.
The tragic incident occurred after a court order instructed Singler to hand over custody of the children to her ex-husband. Singler’s request to delay the court hearing due to the alleged attacks was denied, leading to the unfolding of the harrowing events.
