President Trump has issued a warning that the United States is prepared to intervene if Iran resorts to violence against protesters amid ongoing demonstrations in the Middle-Eastern nation.
Taking to Truth Social, the President stated, “If Iran engages in violent acts against peaceful demonstrators, as is their norm, the United States of America will step in to support them. We are fully prepared and ready to act. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The potential for US involvement arises following reports of six fatalities in Iran as protests continue for a fifth consecutive day across various regions of the country.
Citizens have taken to the streets to express frustration over the significant increase in inflation, which has severely impacted their quality of life. Confrontations between protesters and security forces have erupted in Tehran and other urban areas.
Videos circulating on social media depict clashes between protesters and security forces resulting in vehicles being set ablaze.
According to the semi-official Fars news agency, two individuals lost their lives in disturbances in Lordegan, while three more fatalities were reported in Azna and one in Kouhdasht, all located in the western part of Iran.
President Masoud Pezeshkian has pledged to address the grievances raised by demonstrators. However, the country’s chief prosecutor has issued a stern warning of an assertive response to the ongoing protests.
