“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in UK”

Share

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 a month, providing stiff competition to popular devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. The pricing offered by Sky is claimed to be over £100 cheaper compared to purchasing a Ring system from Amazon.

The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, with an additional £15 upfront fee. This package offers full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk functionality, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking more comprehensive security, there is the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+, priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This bundle includes an indoor camera and additional app features such as scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, Paul Sweeney, emphasized that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans mark a shift for Sky, as they now offer their home security devices as standalone services, whereas previously, they primarily provided Protect Smart Home Insurance, which bundled cameras and alarms.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers looking for cloud recording features would also need a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
