Tragic Collision Claims Life on Trans-Canada Highway

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the death of a 47-year-old man in a collision involving two commercial transport trucks on the Trans-Canada Highway in central Newfoundland. The incident occurred near Gullbridge, also known as Gull Pond Bridge, situated between Badger and South Brook. Responding to the crash at around 2:15 a.m. NT on Tuesday, the police found both vehicles engulfed in flames upon arrival.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 47-year-old man traveling east, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the westbound tractor-trailer sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment, where they remain under care. Due to the police response, a section of the Trans-Canada Highway between Badger and South Brook was closed for several hours on Tuesday.

Authorities stated that an investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
