“Urgent Update: Chrome Users Warned of Security Vulnerabilities”

Share

Chrome users are advised to promptly update their browser to the latest version due to security vulnerabilities that have been patched by Google with a recent update. The update addresses six security issues, including one zero-day vulnerability that cybercriminals are actively exploiting.

To ensure protection, users should verify they are running the latest version – 138.0.7204.157/.158 for Windows and Mac, and 138.0.7204.157 for Linux. Security experts at Malwarebytes emphasized the importance of this update, highlighting the critical nature of the exploited vulnerability that could compromise systems without user interaction.

To check for updates, users can click on Chrome in the menu bar and select About Chrome. If updates are pending, restarting the browser promptly is recommended. This warning follows a previous alert earlier this month regarding another zero-day bug discovered in browsers.

In addition to these concerns, millions of Chrome users were targeted by malicious extensions, prompting the need for affected users to reset Chrome and clear browsing data. Google has removed the harmful extensions to prevent further infections among users.
