Virgin Media customers using older TV set-top boxes are urged to upgrade as the BBC iPlayer app will soon be blocked on outdated devices. The deadline for the switch is set for July, after which the streaming app will cease to function on unsupported devices. This move follows a trend of apps discontinuing support for older devices due to compatibility issues. Furthermore, Virgin Media regularly updates newer devices with additional channels, such as British Screen Classics and wedotv movies, providing added value to customers.
