“Sabrina Carpenter Throws Shade at Ex in Latest Music”

Share

Sabrina Carpenter caught attention recently with what seemed like a direct dig at her former boyfriend Barry Keoghan. The popular American singer has amassed a large following over the years, especially after the success of her breakthrough 2024 hit “Espresso.”

Prior to this, the 26-year-old had been working hard for a decade before finally achieving mainstream success with a series of hit songs. With fame comes increased scrutiny, and Sabrina’s personal life has come under the spotlight due to her celebrity status.

Fans were excited when Sabrina started dating 33-year-old Irish actor Barry Keoghan in 2024. However, their relationship was short-lived, ending by the close of last year.

Despite the breakup, Sabrina has not shied away from referencing her past relationship. Towards the end of 2025, she made a subtle jab at him on social media. This followed the release of music that some believe was inspired by him, including the hit single “Manchild,” which many speculate is about Keoghan, although Sabrina denies it.

In the period between Christmas and New Year, Sabrina shared a cryptic message on TikTok, reposting a fan’s video saying, “It’s been a tough year, but at least I didn’t get back with my ex.” This post led to speculation among her followers about its intended meaning.

Since her split from Barry, Sabrina has not gone public with any new romances. In the past, she has been linked to Canadian singer Shawn Mendes, American singer Joshua Bassett, and actor Bradley Steven Perry.

Taking to Instagram, Sabrina reflected on her year and promoted a bonus version of her latest album for her fans. She expressed gratitude for their support and teased more to come in the future.

In August, Sabrina released her seventh studio album, “Man’s Best Friend.” The album cover sparked controversy, with fans and feminists criticizing its imagery. Sabrina addressed the backlash humorously during an appearance on Saturday Night Live, explaining the misunderstood context of the cover art.

She also responded to the criticism by releasing an alternative album cover that was less provocative. Sabrina lightened the mood by joking that the new artwork was “approved by God.”
