John Tory Named Chair of TIFF Board, Succession Set

John Tory, the former mayor of Toronto, has been appointed as the new chair of the board of directors for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Tory expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with TIFF’s board members, leaders, artists, and filmmakers to influence the organization’s upcoming phase.

His tenure as chair officially commences on October 1, as stated in a recent news release. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 20 this year. Tory succeeds Jeffrey Remedios, who held the position since 2021. Remedios commended TIFF and its leadership, stating his everlasting pride in contributing to the festival’s progression.

Additionally, TIFF disclosed the addition of three new members to its board of directors, namely Deborah Flint, David Furnish, and Daniel Tisch Echevarría. Simultaneously, Asha Daniere is stepping down from the board after serving for nine years. TIFF expressed deep gratitude for Daniere’s dedication and service to the organization.
