Residents in Regina are encountering coyotes not only at the movie theatre but also while strolling through local parks. Scott Paton, a regular visitor to Les Sherman Park, came face-to-face with a curious coyote in mid-August, which prompted him to alert others in the vicinity. Paton mentioned spotting coyote droppings in the area but expressed no concern, stating that coyotes are a common presence in urban environments nowadays.
However, some individuals in the Cathedral neighborhood are uneasy about the recent coyote sightings near Les Sherman Park and Kiwanis Waterfall Park. Numerous reports on social media describe instances of coyotes approaching and following people and their pets. Regina city Coun. David Froh also had a close encounter with a coyote during his morning run at Les Sherman Park. He emphasized the importance of addressing persistent wildlife sightings to ensure public safety.
In response to the reports, the City of Regina announced collaboration with provincial conservation officers to safely remove and relocate two coyotes from the affected neighborhood. Coun. Froh assured that the removal process would be conducted humanely without the use of firearms. He emphasized the need for community members to report any wildlife sightings that could pose a safety risk.
Amidst these real-life encounters, the movie “Coyote vs. Acme” featuring Will Forte is currently showing in various cinemas across Regina. Coun. Froh urged residents to prioritize safety by promptly reporting sightings of potentially dangerous wildlife to the city authorities.
