Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to make a visit to Canada next week, as reported by sources familiar with the matter. The Globe and Mail first broke the news, and it has since been corroborated by two separate sources. Sources indicate that Zelenskyy may have two scheduled stops during his visit.
Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada occurred in December when he met with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax. Following this, he traveled to the United States to hold discussions with President Donald Trump regarding efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Prime Minister’s Office has chosen not to provide any comments regarding the upcoming visit. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has mentioned that several countries, including the U.S. and China, are prepared to assist in achieving a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. However, Putin emphasized that the primary responsibility for resolving the conflict lies with the two countries involved.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed optimism about renewed peace initiatives, stating that there is a fresh momentum in diplomatic engagements across various global capitals. This development follows a period of intense conflict spanning over four and a half years, marking Europe’s most deadly conflict since World War II. The last mediated talks between the two sides took place in February.
