A courageous father, Paolo Campolo, rescued ten young individuals from a fire at a Swiss ski resort nightclub. The incident occurred during a New Year’s Day party at Le Constellation in Crans-Montana. Mr. Campolo acted swiftly after receiving a call from his daughter about the emergency. Despite sustaining smoke inhalation, his actions are believed to have saved several lives.

The nightclub’s main entrance became blocked as people tried to escape the rapidly spreading fire. However, Mr. Campolo identified an alternative exit, allowing trapped guests, including tourists from various European countries, to flee to safety. While recounting the harrowing experience from his hospital bed, Mr. Campolo described the scene of injured and desperate individuals pleading for help.

Reports indicate that the club was popular among younger crowds, with many victims being teenagers. Among the missing individuals is a British-educated teenage girl, Charlotte Niddam, who has not been heard from since the fire. The tragic event has left a profound impact on survivors, with Mr. Campolo highlighting the haunting images of those facing imminent death.

The injured include nationals from Switzerland, France, Italy, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Belgium, Portugal, and Poland. The Valais police commander, Frédéric Gisler, confirmed the nationalities of most of the injured, with a few identities still pending verification. The owners of the nightclub expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing that all safety regulations were followed before and during the celebration.
