Siobhan Finneran, 59, well-known for her role in Happy Valley, has shared insights into her relationship with Don Gilet, 58, an actor from Death in Paradise. The couple, who first met on the set of ITV’s crime drama The Loch, where Siobhan portrayed DCI Lauren Quigley and Don played forensic psychologist Blake Albrighton, have decided to maintain separate residences.
Their professional collaboration blossomed into a romantic connection in 2018, even though Siobhan resides in Saddleworth while Don lives in north London. Despite the distance, Siobhan mentioned that their relationship works well, especially since Don spends a significant amount of time filming Death in Paradise in Guadeloupe.
In an interview with The Times, Siobhan explained that their arrangement is due to Don’s extensive work commitments abroad. She emphasized that they are not a power couple and described themselves as quite normal, often struggling to organize their schedules.
Siobhan also revealed that she has visited Don on the beautiful French Caribbean island where he films. Their relationship had been kept relatively private until Siobhan referred to Don as “my fella” during a conversation with The Guardian, and they were later seen publicly holding hands at various events.
Don is gearing up to reprise his role as DI Mervin Wilson on the Death in Paradise Christmas Special, alongside guest stars Josie Lawrence, Kate Ashfield, Pearl Mackie, and James Baxter. The special episode is scheduled to air on Sunday, December 28th, at 8:30 pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
