Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently gotten married to music industry executive Allison Hsu. The couple exchanged vows over the weekend, as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday. The wedding celebrations were first reported by TMZ in France.

Liu and Hsu publicly announced their engagement in May 2025 during a trip to Paris, sharing updates on wedding-related events in Mexico and a visit to Paris on social media. The couple has been transparent about their relationship, frequently posting about each other online and discussing their bond in interviews.

Liu, who was born in China and raised in Toronto, is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of the Chinese superhero has propelled him to international fame following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience.”

In addition to his Marvel role, Liu has been involved in various projects, such as playing Ken in the popular film “Barbie,” voice acting in the animated movie “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy thriller series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year, showcasing his theater background.

Liu has been vocal about the need for increased Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, criticizing the industry’s traditional and conservative mindset that hinders new talent from flourishing.

The actor’s diverse portfolio reflects his versatility and rising prominence in the entertainment industry.
